Food Service Director
Position Title: Food Service Director
Immediate Supervisor: Principal
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Specialized training in food preparation and/or food service management with demonstrable computer, record keeping, and communication skills is highly preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for a long period of time
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
Scope of Job:
As the St. James Food Service Director, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the cafeteria and food service program.
This is a ten month full-time (40 hours/week), and two month part-time (20 hours/week) non-exempt (hourly) position that reports directly to the Head Mistress.
Responsibilities:
- General Responsibilities:
- Support the value, philosophy, and mission of St. James Lutheran School.
- Perform these services according to the Word of God and the teachings of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
- Work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and church members.
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain kitchen area and manage inventory needs for the lunch and snacks for both EC and K-8 programs.
- Prepare and serve good and wholesome food.
- Maintain compliance with the Indiana Health Department; to comply with all necessary rules, regulations, and licensure requirements through the Indiana Health Department; and to maintain a high standard of quality.
- Prepare and maintain the budget by managing all income and expenses related to the program.
- Hiring and training food service personnel
- Effectively managing and leading staff members
- Regularly evaluating staff performance and program quality
- Enforcing safety policies and procedures
- Promoting school food nutrition to students, teachers and parents
- Developing alternate menus for special diets
- Model and facilitate good human relations skills, effectively interacting with others.
- Other duties as assigned.
