Food Service Worker
Position Title: Food Service Assistant
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Service Experience Preferred, but willing to train
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for a long period of time
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
Scope of Job:
To assist in operating the food service in an efficient, well-managed, and well-supervised manner
This is a part-time (25-30 hours/week), 10-month, non-exempt (hourly) position that reports directly to the Food Service Director.
Responsibilities:
- General Responsibilities:
- Support the value, philosophy, and mission of St. James Lutheran School.
- Perform these services according to the Word of God and the teachings of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
- Work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and church members.
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain kitchen area and assist in managing inventory needs for the lunch and snacks for both EC and K-8 programs.
- Assist in preparing and serving good and wholesome food.
- Work with Food Service Director to maintain compliance with the Indiana Health Department; to comply with all necessary rules, regulations, and licensure requirements through the Indiana Health Department; and to maintain a high standard of quality.
- Inform the Food Service Director on any corrective actions necessary to maintain proper equipment and/or a high standard of quality according to the Indiana Health Department food service regulations and guidelines.
- Assist the Food Service Director to help maintain an efficient kitchen with minimal food waste as to keep food costs in check.
- Model and facilitate good human relations skills, effectively interacting with others.
- As directed by Food Service Director, solicit information from school personnel and community in gauging the school lunch program.
- Other duties as assigned.
