Part-Time Classical Academy English Teacher
St. James Lutheran Classical Academy is a Kindergarten–8th grade school transitioning into a Christ-centered classical education model. Position Summary
St. James Lutheran School seeks a faithful and dedicated junior high English teacher who understands teaching as a Christian vocation, a calling to form both minds and hearts. This position may be filled by an LCMS rostered teacher, a candidate for a divine call, or an educator with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
Core Responsibilities
- Spiritual Leadership: Participate consistently in Word and Sacrament life; lead students in prayer and Scripture; help students apply God’s Word.
- Instruction & Formation: Teach with clarity and purpose in a classical Christian framework, including literacy, literature, grammar, Latin, and strong elementary mathematics; assess student growth.
- Classroom Culture: Maintain a structured, engaging classroom and practice discipline grounded in Law and Gospel.
- Partnership & Communication: Build strong relationships, communicate with families, and participate in school life.
- Professional Engagement: Collaborate with staff, represent the school positively, and pursue professional growth.
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree and applicable licensure requirements.
- Committed Christian with strong teaching and communication skills.
- Views teaching as a calling, loves students and formation, and works collaboratively.
