Family Focus on the Court
Once upon a time, in a family focused school community, there was a JV Girls Basketball team composed of 3rd through 6th grade girls. These young athletes were full of energy, determination, and a love for the game. Despite facing challenges on the court, they always showed up with smiles on their faces.
One day, Coach Fahler noticed that the team could use a morale booster. They had been struggling to score points and prevent their opponents from scoring, and they had yet to win a game. Coach Fahler knew that it was important to lift their spirits and remind them of their individual strengths and the power of teamwork.
During practice, Coach Fahler decided to have one-on-one meetings with each player. She asked two important questions: “What do you think you’ve done really well so far this season?” and “What is one thing you are going to work hard at doing better?”
The girls took this opportunity to reflect on their performance and set personal goals for themselves. They shared their thoughts and aspirations with Coach Fahler, who listened attentively and provided guidance and encouragement.
After the individual meetings, the team gathered in a circle. Coach Fahler had a surprise for them. Each girl was given a squishmallow cookie treat, symbolizing positive recognition for their efforts. They were instructed to give the cookie to a teammate of their choosing, along with a heartfelt affirmation of what they believed that teammate had done well.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as the girls exchanged cookies and kind words. They felt appreciated and valued by their teammates, boosting their confidence and motivation.
But the positivity didn’t stop there. Each girl took a turn sharing what they were going to work on as a promise to their team. They expressed their commitment to improving their skills, supporting each other, and giving their best effort for the remainder of the season.
As the girls spoke, their determination and dedication shone through. They understood that success was not just about winning games but about personal growth, teamwork, and supporting each other through the ups and downs of the season.
The practice ended on a high note, with the girls feeling inspired and ready to face any challenge that came their way. They knew that with their individual goals and collective commitment, they had the power to turn their season around.
Ending… to be continued.
We are excited to cheer on our Lady Crusaders and see how this story ends.
