Great Apple Crunch

Ms. French, our Director of Food Services, planned St. James Lutheran School’s second annual “Great Apple Crunch” for both Early Childhood and our K-8 students. The event took place on Friday, October 20th, at 1:55pm, as part of the Indiana Apple Crunch to celebrate National Farm to School Month and local farmers. The day is celebrated by crunching into locally grown apples at the same time- to create “The Crunch Heard Around the State!’

Miss Becky planned the day with donations of apples from Wea Creek Orchard. This year, we tried the Casper Apple which is grown ONLY at Wea Creek. It was delicious!

The goal of The Crunch is to support farm-to-school procurement initiatives, local farmers, healthy kids, and resilient local food systems.

Thank you to all students who helped us celebrate the crunch, to Ms. French for planning the event, and to our community partner, Wea Creek Orchard.  We are blessed.

FAITH centered, FAMILY focused, FUTURE driven, FOUNDATION built.’
