St. James In Service

This month, as part of our Freindzy theme, “Love At All Times”, our students have been completing service projects. When we love others, it often has a ripple effect. When we choose to show our love in word and action, it starts a single act, but then spreads outward, affecting many more. It’s good to know that our acts of love and kindness don’t only affect the people we do nice things for, but many other people who we may never come into contact with.

Some of our projects included:
● Creating snack packs for the staff at the Indiana Veterans’ Home
● Decorating lunch bags for Meals on Wheels
● Playing games with seniors at University Place
● Cards for our church shut-ins.
● Fall cleaning in the St. James Community gardens and around the campus.

Students must do more than learn skills. They need regular opportunities to use these skills in real life situations. It is our hope that this is just the beginning and that service minded behaviors become regular actions. At St. James Lutheran School, we are concerned with developing the whole child as we strive to be FAITH centered, FAMILY focused, FUTURE driven, and FOUNDATION built. Developing future servant leaders.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
